Item Description

Ahh, baby has finally fallen asleep. Time to do the dishes/eat dinner/go to sleep…but wait! Is that the baby waking up? Is she coughing? Is she breathing?

Every new parent (and one or two veteran ones, too) knows this scenario. It’s lovely when your baby sleeps, but it sure would be nice to keep an eye on her, too. But there aren’t too many parents around who have the luxury of sitting quietly in baby’s bedroom, watching her sleep. This is why baby monitors were invented. And traditional audio monitors are a terrific boon to modern parents. But the Day and Night Handheld Color Video Monitor—now here is technology at its finest!

Turn On, Tune In, and Stay Out of Baby’s Room
With this slick little monitor, not only can you hear your little angel’s every breath and snuffle and rustle, but you can see her every move, too! From anywhere in the house, no less! Sound lights visually show baby’s level of activity, while nighttime LED lights on the camera make the baby fully visible day and night. Simply push one button on the parent unit to take a peek, then push the same button when you’re reassured enough to rely on the sound lights for a while. With a 350-foot range, you can carry the monitor receiver everywhere you go, even into the yard. And, most importantly, you won’t be tempted to poke your head in through that creaky bedroom door you keep meaning to fix just for a quick look at your little tot—which inevitably results in her waking and needing to go through the whole bedtime rigmarole again.

Techy Details
The 1.8-inch screen is plenty big enough to see what you need to see : your little darling’s slumbering form in full color (during daylight hours) or black-and-white (the automatic nighttime view). The parent unit includes 900 MHz technology for superior clarity of sound. If static occurs, switch channels on the two-channel selection to minimize interference. Two power options—rechargeable battery or A/C—provide parents with the freedom to roam or stay put. The rechargeable battery lasts up to 10 hours, making it a good choice for travel. The parent unit also includes an audio/video output jack and is headphone-ready (headphones not included). Brightness control and volume control features allow parents to tone it down or turn it up when necessary. Screen automatically “times out” to save batteries. “Power on” indicator lets parents know, well, when the unit’s on! Baby’s unit includes A/C-powered camera, nighttime LED lights for viewing baby in a darkened room, self-filtering directional microphone, two-channel selection to minimize interference, and “power on” indicator.

And You Put It…?
Baby’s unit provides tabletop or wall-mounted options. A belt clip and stand on the parent unit allows complete portability, while an anchor and security clips (6 included) enables parent to mount the receiver on the wall. –Emilie Coulter

I wanted to post b/c I think it is important to know that if your neighbor has this monitor you will be able to see their nursery instead of yours. In fact, all someone needs is a handset and they can sit in the near vicinity of your house and see your nursery!! It is a big security risk. If you want a monitor that doesn’t have this problem… make sure it is a digital one. This one is NOT!!!

Also, on a side note… this monitor tends to crackle and have static a lot and the battery life on the handset didn’t last long.

The one positive note is that the picture was good.

Also worth noting: Summer’s Customer Service is excellent. They took care of the problem for me when I called to complain. Yay Summer Infant!!

We really do like this monitor… BUT, we are on our third one… in TWO years! The first time it broke, it was our fault. It got dropped three too many times and just bit the dust. With the second, we had issues with the cord. We’d plug in the cord to go to bed at night (and have the monitor maintain it’s charge) and the picture would cut out. So we bought a third… I had to return it one week later because the monitor portion of the unit was making a high pitched noise (static like, but worse… and nothing would make it go away!) that made it impossible to use any volume on the unit. Fortunately after the second unit going bad, we started keeping receipts and were able to return the third monitor for a new one. We HOPE this one lasts. We’ve tried other units, but have returned to this monitor again and again. I just can’t stand the fact that I’ve now invested about $575 (we are taxed in PA) on video monitors for our child. Drives me crazy, in fact. But the peace of mind of being able to click on the picture in the middle of the night, and see my child safe in her bed, makes me rest easy. I wish I had know that I could save $50 at Amazon on this monitor… I would’ve bought it here instead!

    We are so spoiled!

This product has been a lifesaver… my baby was crying at nap time while I was cleaning up the kitchen and instead of letting it go I checked the camera and her leg was stuck in the crib rails! I may have let her cry for a only few minutes before going in to check on her! It’s just nice to see her for reassurance.

The only downfall I have is the handset whether plugged in or not picks up a good deal of static. Sometimes its the positioning, or the dog walks by, I roll over in bed, or someone walks in the baby’s room…

None the less I don’t have an issue seeing anyone’s baby like other reviews. I did take their comments seriously and actually considered not buying this product. However,I’m in a location where I am probably the only person to own this video monitor and didn’t think it would be a big issue as there are SO MANY more PROS to this product.

Enjoy! It really is worth the money and can be used for years to come!

Just returned this to amazon. If you’re going to buy this make sure that you don’t have any other 900Mhz wireless technologies around, or it won’t work, as I found out the hard way.

Otherwise it has a decent picture and sound. Camera is very light due to the plastic construction. I’m going to buy the interference free kind. Hope this helps.

The screen is wide enough, you can see the baby clearly. The only drawback is that it picks up noise from the whole neighborhood due to its high sensitivity. I am using it inside a brick construction (inside walls, too) and it still picks up a lot of noise from the outside. It is still ok because I have the camera to check wether the noises are coming from the baby or not. I end up using the camera, only, on mute. It is a great product, though, and I’d recommend it to my friends.
