This is my second SanDisk Sansa e260. I loved my other one, but it got abused quite a bit and when it finally reached the end of its life after getting dropped countless times I decided it was time for a new one. The price is awesome and it is so easy to get music or books on tape onto the player. It is even easier to delete them once you are finished with them. I haven’t used the picture features, but have used the FM radio as well as the recording option (sometimes by mistake). I wish I had this in college to record lectures!

I went back and forth between other SanDisk models and what sold me on this one was the ease of use and the fact that the headphone jack was on the top of the player instead of the bottom.

I also have the car charger so I can listen to it on long road trips and not worry about the battery running out.

For the reasonable price and durability, you can’t beat it! And I was smarter this time and bought a case with a belt clip so hopefully it won’t get dropped as often.

I have used my e260 to power the stereo on my motorcycle for years. Rain, wind, shine. It’s got a simple, $5 rubber sleeve on it.

I just dropped it while riding a pretty good speed.

    Damage? Nothing.

The basic firmware is annoying, but easy to put the amazing RockBox on. It’s frozen up a few times, but that was easily corrected by holding the power button down for 15 or 20 seconds. I don’t see how an MP3 player could get better than this. Really good sound quality. Not just 5 stars, but one of the all around best products I have ever owned.

3 years after buying one refurbished, I couldn’t be happier.

I love this mp3 player. True, the location of the record button is a pain (it’s on the side and if it is accidentially pressed, the song you are listening to stops and the player begins to record. How annoying is that?)

However, the main thing about the sansa is that they do not last long. Mine lasted a year and a half. the sansa c200 i had before that died after owning it for just a year. Although that’s the case with most things these days. They want you to buy more of their stuff. Almost no one I know has had an mp3 player of any brand last for more than, say, 2 years.

Other than that, good player. Has a tendency to freeze, which means you have to hold the power button down for 20 sec. until it turns off.

Definitely a powerful little player. I personally installed Rockbox firmware ([...]) on mine, so I can play all sorts of formats, like MP3, FLAC, and Ogg Vorbis. It’s important that one buy the Sansa e260 v1, however, as the v2 does not play well with Rockbox! Ask the seller to check the model number on on the bottom rear of the device.

In terms of the player itself, the interface is simple and responsive. Personally, I actually prefer its moveable wheel for scrolling through menu items, as it means I can still use the devices with gloves on, unlike an iPod. The same is true for the tactile buttons.

Given the MicroSD expansion slot, which allows the user to pile on additional gigabytes of storage, this is a highly customizable yet dependable little player. And it’s tiny size means you can bring it with you anywhere.

This is the second Sansa e260 I’ve bought. I misplaced one earlier this year and after my good experience with it, wanted nothing else! I highly recommend this piece of hardware.

I have had this mp3 player for two years. Two years without problems and thousands of hours of enjoyable music listening. No, it is not the smallest, lightest mp3 out there, but it is reasonably priced, sturdy, user friendly, has a changeable battery (haven’t had to do that yet), and storage space is virtually unlimited with the micro sd cards. If you are looking for a good mp3 player, consider this one. The device has been around for awhile and has proved its value.
