I purchased this set recently for a HTPC setup. I read many reviews and was concerned about the various issues I read about. My biggest issue with my previous setups was RF interference from my LCD TV, taking away the range of my wireless desktop.

First off, this unit solved the range issue immediately. No interference from the TV at all whatsoever, with the sensor directly under the TV. I can use it anywhere in the house.

As for the other issues I read about, I came to the conclusion that it may be a quality control issue. This lead me to buy a re-manufactured unit, in hopes that any issues it had were fixed after it was returned. Sure enough, I have had no disconnect issues or any other issues. I use the set-point software and use the HTPC regularly. I go days without using it sometimes, and other times use it several times a day.

I love the mouse. It is comfortable and the buttons, particularly the task switcher, are well placed and easy to use. It works well for gaming on the couch. I mainly play first person shooters with the mouse on the couch and keyboard on my lap, and I can play as well as at the desk.

My only issue is the detached number pad. It is nice for controlling music from the next room. I especially like the display. I already have this covered with other equipment though, and would have liked to be able to clip the number pad to the keyboard. If sitting on a desk, the two take up too much space for a lot of keyboard drawers.

All in all, I love this setup. It does take up quite a bit of space, but it looks attractive and responds perfectly. Provided that you don’t get one of the ones that disconnects regularly or types repeated keystrokes upon waking. At a desk, I would not even consider spending this much on a keyboard/mouse combo, but for a living room setup, it’s all but perfect.

    I hope this was helpful.

I purchased two of these and never looked back… The mouse is the best I’ve found… fits very well in the hand and gives a bit more of a ‘bulge’ to rest your palm on, rather than most mice that leave your wrist on the desk (bad for the wrist).

The keyboard is thin and sleek, looks great and feels fantastic. Quiet, short-stroke, much like a good laptop keyboard.

I like the separated out keypad, and the range is fantastic. Used this to power a media center to play movies/etc., and ended up buying another for my workstaiton… Just ordered a replacement as I killed a keyboard and honestly like this better than anything else I’ve seen.

Can’t recommend this highly enough. Get it.

The overmold on the wrist rest is only a thin layer that started to peel off almost immediately after purchase. Now, after a month, it looks horrible. The media pad often loses it’s bluetooth connection and there is always a connection lag if you haven’t pressed a button in a little while. I bought the unit “used” but still in the box and wrapped up as new and feel that it is overpriced at $100. I like the keyboard, mouse, & media pad… I just wish they worked better and that the construction was better on each component in the package.

This is a longterm ownership review. I’ve owned this product for over a year now. And, I’m a computer programmer.

First off, the main purpose for this keyboard and mouse set is to function with a HTPC in my living room. My HTPC is on 24/7 and seldom rebooted. I’ve gone through about 4-5 different sets from both Microsoft and Logitech. I really wanted this set to be the solution to all the problems I’ve had with previous sets. I thought that if I spent the money (and this set is supposed to be the cream of the crop) then I would get my money’s worth. Unfortunately, it didn’t work that way with this set.

    - The bluetooth connection is the most frustrating thing about this set. Logitech’s bluetooth stack is horrible and their bluetooh technology seems like it’s still in beta. For the past year, I would be lucky to go a full month without the mouse and/or keyboard being disconnected by Logitech’s bluetooth system. Whenever this happened, I’d have to go find a spare wired mouse and/or keyboard to re-link the devices to my HTPC. MY HPTC system is running Windows XP and is VERY STABLE! It’s only function is to play MP3’s and watch movies so there isn’t any junk on there at all that could cause any problems. Sometimes, the devices will disconnect more frequently, like once a week. Sometimes, once every two weeks. But I’ve never gone a full month without it disconnecting. This is definitely an issue with Logitech’s CRAPPY bluetooth technology. My brother has the DiNovo Mini for his HTPC setup and he experiences the same thing. SHAME ON YOU LOGITECH!!!

    - My second complaint is that the “Laser Optical” system in their MX1000 mouse that comes with this set is a piece of crap! I have a dark brown wood coffee table we bought from West Elm and it cannot track on that surface at all! The cursor becomes very laggy and stalls and doesn’t update its position when you move the mouse, then jumps to the next position to catch up with the mouse’s movement. We also tried this mouse on a fabric placemat purchased from Pier 1 Imports and it doesn’t track well on that either. We have white leather couches and it won’t track on that either. Short of having to have a mouse pad in the living room (ugly!), we just deal with the poor and erratic of this “high end,” “true-laser optical” tracking mouse. What a PIECE OF CRAP!!!

    - Lastly, when the mouse was new, its surface had this soft texture on the black part of the surface. That soft texture has now rubbed off in places that contact with your hand. That is not what you would expect from Logitech’s “TOP OF THE LINE” mouse.

I know a lot of websites and reviewers on here have given this set stellar marks (that’s actually why I bought this set in the first place) but for the price, this product is A TOTAL AND UTTER DISAPPOINTMENT!!!

I would like to buy something better to replace this but after having spent so much money on this set, I don’t have the money to try something else.

    Hi,

Have been using this keyboard for a little over a year, and actually really like the keyboard. Would hope for better battery life on the Media Pad but do not really use it much.

    Great mouse.

BUT – once you get a scratch in any of the rubberized surfaces you are in for trouble. They will quickly start to crumble and peel off. Unfortunately not in big “just get rid of them pieces” but in small little pieces that mostly resemble eraser crumbles. Very annoying –

So if you are a light user it might be fine – but for somebody using this 16+ hours a day this is not what you want.
